Wonderful tour of the Garden District

“My family and I visited New Orleans to see our daughter, a Tulane student. My husband is a Tulane alum and graduate of the School of Architecture. We’ve visited the city many times in the past 25 years since he graduated, but rarely do “touristy” activities. However, this trip we brought our 13 and 16 year old children as well and wanted to find a way to share the beauty of the city with them. I stumbled upon this company through Frommer’s. I’m happy I did.

We had a wonderful tour provided by Dave. He was able to provide us with architectural, cultural and social history of the city as well as jazz brunch recommendations, festival suggestions, and restaurant reviews! During our tour we crossed paths with a Tulane School of Architecture professor who works with the company training the guides!

The tour is about 2 hours, but does not cover a lot of geography. The cemetery portion is fascinating and hauntingly beautiful. I was glad we were not roaming with a book or map like many we happened upon. We loved the chance to walk the neighborhood and listen to someone with real information about architecture and home history.
