If you want a good tour, go with these folks.
We took both the Cemetery/Voodoo Tour and the Haunted French Quarter Tour, and both were excellent.
Lloyd, our guide on the Cemetery/Voodoo Tour, was a great storyteller – he was concise and entertaining, and conveyed history and fact with aplomb. The tour went through one of the old cemeteries and left off at the temple of voodoo Priestess Marian. Unless you’re interested in voodoo particularly I would recommend ducking out of the tour before entering the shop, but overall the tour was fantastic. I’d recommend taking the morning tour to avoid the heat of the day.
Karen, our guide on the Haunted Tour, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and very helpfully started out by talking about a little bit of history and current paranormal and parapsychology thought on hauntings before going to sites and telling about the hauntings. There were no gimmicks, no drink-stops, no costumes, no nothing except good history and storytelling.
I simply can’t say enough good about both tours, and if I’d had time I would have done even more of their tours. If you’re looking for quality walking tours with excellent guides, pick Historic New Orleans Tours.
